Rachel Camacho is a fourth generation San Diegan. She attended The Bishop’s School in La Jolla where she played varsity water polo all four years of attendance and was on the US National Youth team for two years. In 2004, she made her debut to local society as a La Jolla Debutante prior to graduating high school.
At the University of Southern California she earned a BA in International Relations with a focus on Africa and the Middle East as well as a minor in Art History. It was in college working summers at a local academic camp, Summerbridge San Diego, where she discovered her passion for education and youth.
Rachel continues her father and grandfather’s tradition of entrepreneurship as the founder and owner of Atticus Prep, an academic mentoring and tutoring company. Atticus Prep’s mission is to encourage passion and enthusiasm for learning, for life and to help students realize their true potential. It is her dream to take Atticus Prep to multiple cities and make it a nonprofit company that helps struggling students of all financial backgrounds.
On top of her responsibilities as a business owner she is also the intern at San Diego Social Venture Partners. She's thrilled to be apart of an organization that helps others find their passion in philanthropy while aiding local nonprofit organizations in becoming more sustainable.
As part of her life’s mission to help others, she is dedicated to volunteering for Just in Time for Foster Youth, Summerbridge San Diego, Center for Community Solutions—Project Safe House, The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary of San Diego, and her Buddhist organization SGI.
