PARKER AND SANDRA PIKE
Partners Sandra and Parker Pike are wonderful examples of ‘follow your dreams.’
Sandra grew up in Scottsdale and moved to Point Loma for High School. She exchanged college for 3 years of caring for her father who was terminally ill with Parkinson’s Disease. She learned a lot about healthcare and wonderful passion driven people supporting her. Following several management roles, she had a great opportunity working in Milwaukee for Prudential Mortgage, one of the first online mortgage businesses in the Country. But her passion was baking…..baking fresh, healthy breads, the great smells and huge smiles from kids and adults alike. She packed up her bags and traded in her 401 K accounts to follow her dream with a move back to San Diego. Like many entrepreneurs, she knew a lot about business….but very little about running a commercial bakery. Yikes. With great community support, help from industry professionals and 18 hour days…..she grew her idea and passion into a well-know N. County bakery – Village Mill Bread Company. When the bakery was sold last year she had 25 employees, multiple outlets including Jimbos and the Addison Restaurant. But her biggest smile came from something unexpected…her bakery became a “1st job training center” for over 175 area high school students…. as she taught them the value of hard work, responsibility, trust and teamwork….all life changing and life development skills.
