JUDY HALTER

Judy Halter has over 25 years of leadership and development experience across healthcare, education, and parks and recreation. Her expertise includes sales and financial management, having worked in public finance for 16 years in the early part of her career.

Halter played a key role in resurrecting the La Jolla Rough Water Swim and served as chair of the La Jolla Cove Swim from 2019 to 2022. She has also served on multiple nonprofit boards, including the Barrio Logan College Institute, where she helped secure a new executive director. She was a member of the La Jolla Parks & Beaches Committee from 2013 to 2020, leading a project to rebuild the La Jolla Cove restroom originally constructed in 1958. She has also served on the Bishop’s School Parent Board and the Nativity Prep Academy Board, where she established a mentorship program for high school students. She was the Georgetown University Chair of Alumni Interviewing, managing 40 volunteers and assigning over 125 interviews annually. She co-founded Solidarity Sundays La Jolla and has volunteered teaching ESL through Alliance for Africa. She currently provides art therapy through Episcopal Community Services.

Halter holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Georgetown University. She has certifications in conflict resolution, college counseling, and Series 7 and 53 financial licenses.

Halter has lived in San Diego for 20 years with her family. She has four grown children, three of whom are married, and one grandson. She enjoys ceramics, painting, and ocean swimming.
