MARTY GOODMAN

Marty Goodman is a recovering entrepreneur with over 35 years of business experience in various industries. He is currently president of Henderson Properties and has been a real estate broker for 25 years.

Goodman’s career began in software development where he co-founded a company that worked on a redesign and automation of the nation’s change-of-address system with the US postal service. The project won numerous awards, including the Smithsonian Technology Award for best technology and the company was issued 17 patents on the technology invented as part of the project.

In 1997, real estate caught his attention while in an MBA program at USD. Goodman graduated valedictorian of this class, obtained his Broker’s license and went on to form a company that acquired and managed over 1,000 residential homes in San Diego.

Goodman has held several roles during his time with SVP locally and internally, serving as a board member and Partner. Goodman led a program called Advanced San Diego, which was founded to coach non-profits on their pitch. Over three years, more than 125 San Diego non-profits were coached by this program and used these skill sets to enhance their fundraising and partner communications.

At SVP International, Goodman joined the board of directors and traveled and met with non-profits all over the world, including India, China and Korea.

At Just in Time (JIT) for Foster Youth, Goodman served as the SVP Lead Partner for three years and later joined their board of directors. He created a unique auto lending program at JIT which provided subsidized auto loans for qualifying young adults.

Goodman graduated from Miami University in 1984 and moved to San Diego from Cleveland, Ohio in 1986. He was an adjunct professor in USD’s MBA program for four years teaching a class he custom tailored for the finance department. He also was a volunteer instructor at Junior Achievement, and more recently became an instrument rated pilot.

Goodman has a passion for giving back and enjoys working with non-profits helping them achieve optimal outcomes.

The father of two boys, now 20 and 23, Goodman had his hands full parenting. He created a kid’s point and reward program for parents to use to help reward child behaviors. The website and app developed a following of more than 1 million users per month.
