DAVE MEADER
Dave Meader, Ph.D. has 30 years experience working in academics and with nonprofits. Recently, Meader served as the Director for the Center for Socially Responsible Business at Mills College in Oakland, California and has taught social innovation strategies, project management and information technology strategy to graduate business students at the University of Arizona Eller College of Management, University of California – Berkeley Haas School of Management and Mills College. While in Arizona, Meader founded the first year required MBA Field Project course by recruiting companies to host MBA consulting teams and then serving as a faculty advisor for those teams.
In addition to serving as a professor, Meader has also provided guidance as a consultant for Silicon Valley organizations of all types in strategy, information technology, team development, marketing and local innovation. He also co-founded an English language school and taught in Pachacutec, Peru.
Meader teaches at San Diego State in the Business College after moving from the San Francisco Bay Area in 2017. He has a BS in computer science, MA in Psychology and Ph.D. in Computer and Information Systems from the University of Michigan, and an MBA from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
Meader is the father of twin boys, of which he is very proud. In 2015, Meader traveled around the world, visited 28 countries and provided pro bono business consulting services to small social enterprises in seven different countries. He is writing a book based on that experience that gives business professionals a “how to / do it yourself” guide to travel the world as volunteer business consultants. The goals are to both to make a personal impact on low income communities and to immerse themselves in a uniquely rich and satisfying life experience. The book, The Lean Volunteer: Traveling The World While Doing Good With Your Business Expertise, will be out in the Fall of 2023.
