SUSAN SCHINDELAR

Susan Schindelar retired in 2020 from her last position as Vice President, Global Marketing at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) where she was responsible for the development and implementation of a global marketing strategy that fulfills the institute’s mission to protect the gem and jewelry buying public through expertise and knowledge sharing. Leading marketing for the institute’s education, laboratory services and instrumentation sectors, Susan’s team expanded GIA’s offering, exposure and presence with miners, jewelry manufacturers, retailers and consumers by enabling the industry and consumers, alike, to know what they are buying and selling.
Susan brings more than 34 years of cross-industry marketing and corporate strategy experience with 24 years at Hewlett Packard (HP) prior to her ten years with GIA. Most recently at HP, she was Senior Director of Customer Insights for HP’s Enterprise business and prior had multiple roles in HP’s Printing and Imaging business (now HP Inc.) including leading marketing for a rapidly growing portfolio of consumer products with annual revenues in excess of $300 million USD, driving integrated customer experience for printing consumers, and strategic planning and investigations for a $7 billion USD supplies business. A data-driven marketing executive and business leader Susan brings deep experience in both high tech and nonprofit industries as well as global marketing leadership with a focus in the US, Europe, China and India.
Susan holds a BSE in Civil Engineering from Princeton University and an MBA from Wharton. She resides in San Diego, CA with her husband, son and chocolate lab.
