Scott first learned of Social Venture Partners during lunch with college friends. He expressed a desire to 'do more' to empower nonprofits, and since that conversation, his connection with SVP has been strong & lasting.
Scott has served in numerous roles at SVP, including board chair & lead partner.
His successful career as a television news producer throughout California helped Scott develop an ability to tell stories in a compelling and memorable way.
Most often his interactions with our nonprofit community center around storytelling...encouraging a focus on impact rather than activity, and telling stories at the right altitude "Donors want to hear about the results, and be confident your program works, before diving into the details."
Scott enjoys the variety at SVP "I can get deeply involved with a specific nonprofit, and also have the chance to join group discussions to learn about new opportunities, and broaden my experience...or network with other Partners and friends.”
"What I realize now is that the way we engage with nonprofits, in small groups to provide trusted advice, not only serves the agencies we seek to help, but strengthens & deepens connections among ourselves, too. I joined SVP to help shape my community...I had no idea how much joining SVP would help shape me."
In his free time, Scott continues his quest for memorable meals...sometimes pie, sometimes escargots (only once in the same meal.) Earlier in life he was a trumpeter and says, “if there’s a desire to put together a band for SVP, I could probably be recruited!”
