SHAINA GROSS
Shaina Gross’ career has centered around the social determinants of health and developing, implementing, and evaluating programs that can move the needle for historically marginalized communities. Gross serves as the Senior Community Relations Manager at SDG&E, listening to the needs of our San Diego community and investing in local nonprofit partners. Prior to SDG&E, Gross served as the President & CEO of Susan G. Komen San Diego, Chief Impact Officer/Senior Vice President at the United Way of San Diego County, Vice President at the San Diego Workforce Partnership, and Program Manager at Planned Parenthood of Central North Carolina. In each role, Gross’ goal has been to create equitable opportunity for individuals and families to thrive.
Gross sits on the City of San Diego Parks and Recreation Board as the District 7 representative. She is also the Board Secretary for Catalyst of San Diego and Imperial Counties. Previously, Gross served as the Grants Co-Chair for Women Give San Diego, Fieldstone Executive Leadership Program Coach, board member for the Continuum of Care for the Regional Task Force on Homelessness, Vice President of the Ocean Beach Town Council, and evaluator for the San Diego HIV/AIDS Funding Collaborative.
Gross has a B.A. in Sociology and Masters of Public Health from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned a Non-Profit Management Certificate from the Harvard Business School Club of San Diego and was a Lead San Diego Graduate and Herb Klein Visionary Award Finalist.
In her free time, Gross loves watching Tar Heel basketball, exploring the many great food spots in San Diego, doing puzzles, traveling, and going to live music with her family. On the weekends, Gross and her husband, son and dog also like going on hikes in their backyard of Cowles Mountain.
